Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first female vice president , and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she served as the United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her career began with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the 2nd African American woman to serve in the Congress, and the first South Asian American American to do so in the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization which could lead to the citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is best known for her direct questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
